On an October weekend in 1973, in the impossibly picturesque East Tennessee town of Jonesborough, the National Storytelling Festival was born. From a few eager listeners sitting on hay bales the event has grown to host tens of thousands and has sparked a national movement steeped in the unforgettable power of live storytelling.
